Freight
DSC provides a competitive freight program to assist you. We will make every effort to ship your order via UPS. Please note, UPS will not accept cartons larger than an overall length of 108".

  • Product over 102" in width or a total of 130” in width and girth will be delivered by common carrier (truck).
  • “Pre-paid Freight” product orders with cost of less than $300 per product category that need to go by common carrier will be charged at $50 with DSC absorbing the remaining cost. “Billed Freight” products, no matter the cost, will incur the actual amount of the freight charged.
  • Hi-Tech Shades, Eclipse Shutters, Samples, Hardware, Fabric, and charged parts will be charged full freight.
  • Iron Art will be charged a flat 7% for freight – a $15 minimum applies.
  • Mini Blinds, Wood & Horizontal Blinds, all Pleated Shades, Synergy, Nanik, Vienna, Sheer Radiance, and Insolroll are pre-paid.
  • All shipments going to an address other than what is on the account set up screen (drop ship) will be charged full freight.
  • DSC adds a 2%-4% packaging and handling fee to all orders that are shipped. The P&H fee is figured into the multipliers on your discount sheet. Sign up as a Will Call customer and save the P&H fee.
    TOP

Shipping Damage

  • When a package is delivered damaged, it is your responsibility to carefully inspect each package and clearly note on the signature sheet or the bill of lading that there is damage, visible or not. Failing to sign questionable packages as damaged, means you may be forfeiting the ability to make claim and receive compensation. Claims must be filed within 24 hours. Based upon the Interstate Commerce Commission law for common carrier shipments, the moment your shipment leaves our dock, title is passed on to you. It is imperative that you inspect all cartons for visible damage before signing for the shipment.
  • DSC will file a claim for you but you must keep the box and damaged goods for inspection by the carrier.
    TOP

Fabrication Discrepancies
Please call customer service for an RGA (Return Goods Authorization) number. Always have your account number, reference, and side marks available. All authorized remakes will be billed to the customer and credit issued upon return of the original blind. In the event that, upon immediate inspection of your order, you discover any material defects, order errors, or production errors, contact our office immediately for an RGA number. Errors or defect of the unsatisfactory goods due to manufacturing will be repaired or replaced immediately. DSC cannot be responsible for reinstallation or trip charges due to the dealer's failure to inspect order upon receipt.
TOP

Repairs

  • Please call your CSR in Denver to obtain an RGA number and authorization. Product cannot be returned to DSC without an RGA (Return Goods Authorization). Have this information before calling: original work order number, size, pattern and color, room location, detailed repair instructions.
  • Upon receipt of product, DSC will inspect and, if necessary, repair or remake the product based upon stated warranties. (See price list and/or installation instruction for warranty information.)
  • If repair is due to DSC error or defect, and your call is within the first 30 days of receipt, DSC will send a call tag to pick up the product and will pay the return freight after repair is done. After 30 days, you are responsible for returning product to DSC, even if the defect is covered by warranty.
  • If the error is yours or your customers, you will be charged a flat outbound rate. Product less than 60” wide will be billed $15 per shade. Product over 60” wide will be billed $20 per shade.
  • DSC will restring blinds at no charge for up to three years. After three years, restringing is considered a normal part of wear and tear and will be a charged service. If the cords have broken because of a faulty cord lock or Easy Up clutch, these are warranted parts and your blinds will be restrung at no charge.

Product Alteration

  • Some products can be altered or refit depending on the situation.
  • You must also get an RGA for returning products for alteration.
  • The minimum charge is $35.88 plus parts or surcharges that may apply. All repair or alteration charges can be verified through your customer support representative.
    TOP

Canceling an Order

  • Your CSR will check with manufacturing to see if the product has been started. If the product has not been started, they will pull the work order and call you back with a cancellation number.
  • All information is recorded: caller's name, reason for cancellation, etc.
  • The order is then cancelled in the computer system.
  • If product has been started and you still want to cancel the order, you will be charged for the materials that have been cut.
  • An invoice will be sent to you for the cut materials and order will be cancelled as usual.
  • You must receive a cancellation number from your CSR to assure the cancellation has been completed. Your cancellation number is your insurance against charges that could otherwise occur.

Specialty Shapes

  • Arches: Templates are required if not a perfect arch. See "How To Measure, Order, and Install" guide for instructions. It is always desirable to make a template even if you feel your arch is perfect. Please roll template when shipping. Due to limitations with the fabrics, some sizes cannot be produced.
  • 2" Horizontal Custom Valances: Whenever you have a 2 or 3 on one headrail, or an inside mount with an outside mount valance DSC must be given exact measurements for valance, splits, and returns.
  • Remember, more information is better than less. If you are not sure what information you need to place your order, call customer service.

You and Your Installer
DSC encourages you to use the services of a professional installer who is knowledgeable about the hard window covering industry, products, and changes. A good installer should be able to make minor adjustments on site, carries extra parts and brackets, and is experienced at working with a variety of window shapes and dimensions.
TOP

Measuring
Accurate measurements are essential for fabrication. Please measure to the exact 1/8". Measure in 3 places for each width and length. Give us the narrowest width and the longest length. Round down on width and round up on length. Measure where the blind will be installed. Please see the ordering guide in the product price list for specifics or you’re your CSR. Each product group has different standard deductions.
TOP

Other Specialty Applications
Multiple shades on one headrail, dormer windows, butt & pass, special shapes and bay windows require specific measuring instructions. Please see ordering guide in the product price list or call your CSR.
TOP

Extra Parts
Each order is shipped with the parts necessary to install the product. If you or your installer feels that you need additional parts, please request them at the time of order so they can be shipped with the order. Additional parts sent out after the shipment will be charged and charged full freight.

Hi-Tech

Customer's Own Material, COM:

  • Must be received clean, wrinkle free and rolled on a tube. If ironing is required due to folded or wadded goods, a pressing charge will be applied. PLEASE NOTE: Folding fabric can easily ruin it as wrinkles rarely come out completely.
  • Please clearly identify COM prior to sending it to DSC with your account name, sidemark, and fabric name and color. Please also note direction fabric should run and proper face side if these issues are questionable.
  • Plaids cannot be used on Hi-Tech Shades due to the off-bias nature inherent with that type of pattern.
  • Sheer fabrics do not work well with our adhesive process. Lining them does help but on any sheer order, please send a 12” x 12” swatch to DSC in Denver to test and for approval.

Valances

  • 4 1/2" fabric valances are standard on all styles.
  • Longer valances are available and valance only is available, please contact your CSR for more information and to receive a quote.

Repairs

  • Hi-Tech Shades cannot be cut down in width. They must be remade.

  • Light-filtering - white lining is available at no additional charge or discount.
  • Ivory blackout or light-filtering lining can be used at no additional charge or discount.
